The literacy ratio of Dharampur is lesser than compared to National Literacy ratio of India. There are no higher education institutions in Dharampur Taluka. Shree Vanraj Arts and Commerce College is the foremost and largest institution for higher education in Dharampur. The college was established in June 1984. The college is managed by Shree Maharana Vijaydevji Sarvajanik Kelavani Mandal. The founder of the institution is Shree Nanubhai Maganlal Desai (Nanu Dadhi). He is known as the pioneer of education in Dharampur. The college started with the fund of Jungal Kamdar Sahkari Mandali under the leadership of Nanubhai. In the beginning the college had 251 students and today the number has increased up to 3500. The management has the policy that each and every tribal student must have a higher education anyhow. Management does not allow any donor who has unnecessary and demanding conditions.

 

In the beginning years the college used to be held in the building of S. M. S. M. High School. The college building was built gradually with the help of various donors. Today the college has the huge building for class rooms, sports ground, beautiful gardens, multimedia room, computer lab, etc. Government of Gujarat has provided 5.5 acres of land to college. For Years College used to be held in two shifts. Today the college is successfully running in one shift. College has up to date modern equipments and teaching aids available for students. Vanraj College is situated 30 kms away in the west of Valsad station.
